  1. Well -paced episode. I laughed at so many parts! From when Zhongqi declared he will cycle 20km with Zhang Jiazhen and Ai Jia had to pull him along on a scooter, to Du Cai Jie’s “spying” ways, Qingmei Ahyi and her children clamouring to write on the whiteboard to countdown Zhongqi’s return. I think this show has mastered the art of “cold” jokes 冷笑话, where the ‘duh’ moment just comes and we don’t know what hits us. Especially when characters state the obvious or state something totally wacky (Qingmei Ah Yi’s son, Cheng Ba).

So, the quest to fulfill Zhongqi’s wishes has finally begun proper. In this ep, we saw the very playful side of Zhongqi that he’s been repressing all this while. It was bittersweet because we know that the next few eps he’ll have to face up to his foster dad and responsibilities at home. He spent so much time with Zhang Jiazhen that he looked the happiest that he has been since the show begun. Did anyone notice?

And obviously, our female lead pouted all the way (in various permutations of facial expressions) because she’s experiencing jealousy to the deepest degree but doesn’t even realize it. I also like it that Zhongqi vehemently denies anything to do with Ai Jia when Zhang Jiazhen asks if they were together. Huang Hong Sheng has this maniacal laugh, though, and I get a little bit disturbed when I hear it.

The writers are doing very much better with the Alan/Cai Jie pairing. They’ve been relegated in these few episodes to side characters doing the narration for our OTP. And I like it that way, their chemistry has been growing too.

This episode was very light-hearted, but two moments stood out for me. When Qin Ba spoke to Zhongqi’s late father at the garage about his helplessness, and when he caught a glimpse of his two sons on the beach. The longing, unmistakable. Guess we solved the mystery of whether Alan and Zhongqi are brothers related by blood – a resounding no. YES! Unnecessary minefields and complications averted.

Zhongqi loosened up a bit, and I note we’ve come a long way to seeing his character develop from an anal retentive young boss to a happy-go-lucky car mechanic. It was a good journey, but let’s see how he reconciles this later on…

Good to note also that there will be no romantic developments between Zhongqi and Zhang Jiazhen, and that Zhongqi called his relationship with her a love story that didn’t even begin. Unnecessary antics averted, too. The wit after that in Zhongqi’s dialogue was wonderful: “Big apples are good… just eat them, and they become smaller… and they’re good because you can savour them slowly.” Haha.

And as usual, Ai Jia is hopefully naive… but I forgive her, because she is SOOOO cute! Maybe Zhongqi is her “lost and found wisdom”. 🙂

  2. i dont get why zhong qi is so obssessed with zhang jia zhen… she’s just a girl he liked in grade6.
its funny when alan makes a face when cai jie talks about how fat and heavy zhang jia zhen is. 😛

  3. i used to think that 性感美女 is most attractive n popular among man,but then after i saw 爱家,
i realise how powerful a 气质美女 can be…
